Not totally "lucky". I started paying into a company pension from around age 18 and of course contributed towards a state pension. I've earned mine.

You were lucky to work for a company who provided a pension scheme, probably with your contributions matched by your employer and your tax and ni lower as a result. And if it was a final salary scheme you're laughing. Add to that a state pension. Anyone who has been salaried in France would love to pay ni level contributions in the UK compared to the cotisations paid here. Yes you worked, but I think you'll find that those currently working are paying for your pensions. What you contributed could never provide what you get.

Still roadside but heading to one of the top touristy
villages in the Cantal.
