The salmon looks pretty thick for eating it raw.
I tried it once by mistake before I learnt a word I will never forget. cru
We were out for a meal with mum and the salmon starter with fresh lemon juice was the only thing I could pick just a pity it was not cooked.
It was paper thin and I ate some but could not carry on when i worked out it was raw.

I commented at the time that the salmon had been sliced a little too thick.

I like the photograph of Mr Creosote's "waffer thin" mille feulle

It looks like a smiley!
When has a Mille "feulle" (sic) ever been wafer thin?

Lemorvan, I think that meal looked delicious, but did you eat all that? I’ve always had a good appetite, although less so than when a but younger, but half if each course would have been an excellent sufficiency, as my dear FIL used to say.

2 starters, 2 mains and a pudding so presume Lemorvan dined with a companion? Looks fabulous :good:

I love mille feuille but hate asking for it in the boulangerie as it’s so difficult to pronounce and however you pronounce it they will say it back to you different...

I spent many a happy hour being verbally abused by Fanch out local drunk bar owner who was trying to help me pronounce 'feuille'. "NO" he would shout. "NOT FEUILLE, IT'S FEUILLE".
As they both sounded the same & his normally excellent English got worse with each Pastis it was hysterical but I finally twigged it & realised the sound was more like a drunk slurring the word 'Fay'.
Had the same problem at boules with 'dessous' & dessus ' but that was Marcel & red wines fault.

Thank goodness - I really thought that was all your own meal, Lemorvan! Either gullible or not thinking this morning.

Myself as well.

Lemorvan you did say a tiny mille feuille hence my comment! Now we learn that it was for two.
