Yes, having it ready is a must! It would have been such a pity if he had missed the whale and the girl’s delight.
When we visited Kaikoura in New Zealand, we went out on a boat with a Maori and watched a whale, which was pretty wonderful. Then it disappeared and he said to be ready as it would rise up high, dive and then stay deep down in the water. He counted so that my husband caught it just as if it was standing on its tail before it dived! An unforgettable experience.
