August the first is always Yorkshire Day. Any ne'er-do-wells who try to knock it or make disparaging remarks are only jealous because they weren't born here!
“Never argue with a know-it-all. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
Its also Lammas day, origin old English probably, probably Pagan,
The celebration of the start of the harvest, the first corn of which was made into a bread to celebrate.
I suppose the rest of us can tolerate Yorkshire Day. Its not like people from the region can keep quiet about how wonderful it is for the rest of the year.
Yawn......................zzzzzzzzzz
Visit historic Barnard Castle. Lockdown day trips now available.
Happy Yorkshire day. My favouritest thing to come out of Yorkshire --- the A66 West. Not because Yorkshire is a bad place, but because home is only 3 hours from Scotch Corner and 80% of my journey is behind me.
