That looks like a tasty plate of food SP1DER and I’ve been looking for a while at a two month cultural trip to Japan towards the end of 2021. I’m not sure what the dish has got to do with sushi. It’s a plate of raw fish, vegetables and wasabi. Is that beer or sake in your glass?
I could just eat a (small) baguette filled with thinly sliced rare roasted sirloin with a few dollops of wasabi.

Perhaps those Brits enjoy vinegared rice for that is what sushi is. Perhaps they eat their sushi with fruit and vegetables. No need for raw fish or meat if you want to eat sushi.
This is one of the courses we had in Japan at a wedding, no "vinigared rice" or worms in sight thank goodness

I did get served raw samon in lemon juice once in France, did not make that mistake again. ;)

No, I didn't like it one little bit! The lobster that followed was superb though (it was cooked).
