Cats are carnivores .. quote ' cats are true (so-called “obligate”) carnivores: They meet their nutritional needs by consuming other animals and have a higher protein requirement than many other mammals.

Dogs can manage with much less protein than cats .. but give dogs quality meat food and they will be v healthy and their coat will shine .. though not in Demon's case as he is a poodle 😉.

Our dog will eat pretty much anything. He doesn't need too much to fuel his activities, mostly sofa testing.

Why are vegetables in sachets of wet cat food?

I'm sure in the uk they weren't.

They were before we left the UK in 2005 .. trying to give the erroneous idea, in the case of cats, that your pet needs vegetables.
Of course veg scraps are cheaper then meat ...

If you're talking about Bill, he's no longer a wild cat and has obviously taken after his master rather than his mistress in his culinary dislikes.

If a cat is hungry enough it will eat anything. Two of the last strays in the garden were eating the bird seed. I keep cat biscuits in store in case of need, but the last kitten I fed was given brioche and milk because that was all I had to hand. Poor love was killed by a car a few hours later, the contents of its stomach there for all to see. But my own cats favourites (all 3 of them now sadly dead) was freshly roasted chicken or peeled fresh prawns. They were a tad spoilt.....
