Musing on the meaning of Irony

During a sortie into some FR on a regional forum, the following suggestion was made.

‘ Nifty, a quick search on Ancestry for directory entries in Oxfordshire containing the name KIRTLAND, returns some 211 entries. As Brian says you need to narrow things down by providing additional information. (And preferably under its own thread.) ‘

I had already done as suggested some time previously.

This is perhaps a good time for a discussion on the merits of induction as opposed to deduction, but,
I have a feeling I might be wasting somebody’s valuable time by making such a preposterous suggestion.
