Well, I can guarantee that if it kicks off the bouncers will be hiding in the loo.Flaneur wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:08 pmI see. Perhaps the friendship resembles old-fashioned pen-friendship?
Well, I think there's clearly a community here. I picture it as a bar, with you and mysty at the bar, keeping the conversation going with your questions and topics, and most of us with our own particular personality.

I wouldn't want to say that is any more a friendship than on facebook, say: they're equally artificial.
Just like almost everything that humans think or use.
The crux of the matter is how one thinks about it.
Re: Friendships
Friendship is a mutual like between two people, usually not family members. If a person cannot like another person online as some would suggest, how is it possible to dislike someone online, as some clearly do? FTR, I think both are possible. I like everybody, up to the sky and back.

Re: Friendships
Friendship is a strange thing.
There are the friends we've had since childhood, the ones from work, the ones from where we live and so on. I don't know about anyone else but we have different friends at different times if our lives. Friendship can be a fluid thing, we can be very close friends and then drift apart then later become close again.
Where does acquaintance become friendship?
My OH has a few very good friends, I have more friends but no one particularly close.

Friends? Not friends? Acquaintances? It's all too awkward.
Much easier when you're a bitter old misanthrope like me.
