Left the UK in 1978. Spent years in Ireland and the USA. The last 35 years in France as an employee and now retired with a French/UK/Irish and US pension - what a nightmare that was. During my French working years I did spend a lot of time in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany - which gave me broad view of the world but I missed a large part of my children's upbringing. Never mind I have a couple of grandchildren living around the corner that I spend lot's of time with, long may it last.

Since then , many business trips, a few family duties (weddings, funerals etc).

Weighed anchor and left England for good on 9/11/2001. Easy to remember.
Visit historic Barnard Castle. Lockdown day trips now available.

I left when the exchange rate was £1 = 1.6€ , you work it out.
