Re: Makes You Think......
While it is a point well made, it is also important to recognise the growth of C19 deaths.
Up to 8th April there had been less than 100,000 deaths.
That had doubled by 24th April and trebled by 14th May (outside the scope of the poster). Although there are some signs of the rate of death slowing down, an extra 100.000 death per 16 odd days means that C19 will be above the others on the right hand side in rather short shrift.

I guess one day people will ask if it was all worth it.
People will be more in debt.
Others will lose there job.
Companies will go bust.
Many more people will die from cancer.
Survival of the fittest, not sure the world is ready for that yet.
We lost sales and customers but I would rather be alive than suffering from CV19.

All those deaths could be reduced with more compassion, caring and sharing of wealth throughout the world. The contrast between rich and poor countries is disgraceful in this day and age and motoring deaths would be reduced with the application of higher driving standards and drivers being more careful.

Re: Makes You Think......
As of today I am completely without revenue, my one remaining long term tenant has just moved out, the Airbus factory is on chômage partiel till the end of the year and I'm fairly certain they will use the occasion to boucler their plans to stop production there. There will be no tourists to this region this year IMO and the most telling indication as that not one of the 3 major hôtels (whose closures were voluntary) are re-opening.
I am going to register with Pôle Emploi, wont get any money but being an eternal optimist I might find a job and will qualify for retraining etc, it was with a shock that I learned that in another 10 months I would not be able to as being classified as over the retirement age so maybe its a good thing that this has happened when it did.
One door closes and another opens, I just dont know which one it is yet or where it is.

Terrible figures.
And if "herd immunity" had been the chosen solution?
And if "herd immunity" had been the chosen solution?
...If no action had been taken against the epidemic, there would have been about 510,000 deaths in the UK [out of a population of 66 million people, about as many in Italy or France] and 2.2 million in the United States [out of 330 million]. This doesn’t take into account the additional deaths caused by the saturation of hospitals... Translated from an article in Le Point.

Re: Makes You Think......
That puts it into perspective and that is after global lockdown measures
, it would be sobering to see the same graphic with the most conservative estimate of the Covid 19 evolution if no measures had been taken.

Re: Makes You Think......
One question.
If that graph Covid 19 aside is for only 7% of global deaths what are the other 93%? - Natural causes?
*Except COVID, causes of death shown account for ~7% of global deaths annually
