Don’t throw out the coffee residue left in the filter if you have a problem with ants coming into your house from the garden. I have just learnt that if you can create a barrier with this, ants don’t like it. We have one window that they like trying to come through so going to give this a try as an ecological way of stopping them.
What else do you use from the kitchen outside, not including composting?
Ants and filtered coffee
Re: Ants and filtered coffee
Soapy, salty water on weeds.
Salt on ice.
Bleach on moss and algae.
Soapy water on greenfly. It's been a while right enough.

White vinegar on the windows and I borrow the car windscreen squeezy thingy to remove the excess - the sort window cleaners use only a tad tad smaller!

Lemon juice against ants. I haven’t tried coffee grounds.
White vinegar if there’s ever calcium build up in the toilet pan due to our very hard water.

Re: Ants and filtered coffee
A home made antkiller I've found is equal amounts of icing sugar and bicarbonate of soda.
Theory is that icing sugar attracts the ants and the bicarbonate blows them up. Ants who die are eaten by fellow ants who also die
. Weve been inundated with them this year.
