When I first saw the piccy I thought it was Anthocharis cardamines - and my immediate thought was "not another Latin name they've decided to change"

However I see it is the Provence Orange Tip - and does reach Switzerland

You have an interest in Butterflies too brilliant

I love them Still miles away from seeing them allthough just hit 102 species photographed another 100 to go

The Provence Orange Tip is still just down in the South as my friends and I can make out

Many years ago I used to study them - actually that was why I chose my degree - but it was my father a science teacher who instilled first instincts collecting caterpillars off brambles next to house and putting in a matchbox. Age 3 or so. Mother was less happy about what ended up in my coat pockets.

Later he taught me how to collect them and pin then out - collecting the various whites off his veg patch - I wonder if there was an ulterior motive somewhere?

Now I look forward to taking up photography and entomology again after retirement!

I am a little like you in my younger days I also pinned Butterflies
Never again not even a net just Take photographs and leave nothing but foot prints
Its taken me 23 years to photograph butterflies in and around my 4 homes in France so I am going to bore you all to death with them
