No income tax to pay below 27,532 euros?

Post by Pale Ale » Thu May 10, 2018 4:11 pm

Could anybody explain to me please why there would be no French income tax liable on a net declared income below 27,532€ for a married couple, as laid out in the link below:

https://www.french-property.com/news/ta ... ble_2018/

I understand that there is a personal allowance of 9807€ per person at zero percent, so for a couple that would equal 19,614€. So are there any other allowances that would take the figure up to 27,532€?

A bit baffled.

It might be the décote, you will have to do the figures to see if it equates as I am otherwised engaged.

From my last years avis I was taxed as a single person 1 part on €13401 after the very micro BIC generous allowance, this would have resulted in my paying €638 in taxes but there was an equal décote which meant I paid nothing.

I did a simulation for the declaration that I just sent off and the taxable amount was above the décote threshold but they then took that off what I owed frommemory it was €900 or €1000 leaving me with I think €177 to pay, I wont know for sure till I get my avis later in the year.

I could see no reason why they are mucking around with a complicated décote when they could have just raised the thresholds.

:D If you punch in €27532 it says there's nothing to pay. I don't know why but that's what it says.

It looks like this information is incorrect. Where did it come from?

The explanation of the calculation appears below after it is done.

EDIT: The explanation of the décote is here https://www.corrigetonimpot.fr/2017/11/ ... claration/

Yes the decote does sometimes get complicated. I agree - just raise the threasholds. They used to include the actual formula used on the accompanying sheet each year but they dont bother anymore I still paper declare but my undestanding is that if you declare on line it automatically calculates you liability, beyond that" I know nothing Mr Fawlty"

I can't be bothered to do the calculations, but I think the arithmetic of the decote gives a different result from changing the threshold.

Yes from memory it is quite a complicated equation to work out.
