Well, well, well....I happened to be pottering about on the drive when M. Linky installateur arrived :D . As we strolled down to the meter, I explained that I'd written to EDF, Enedis and 5Com to decline their kind offer. 'Ah, OK' he said. 'Any particular reason why?' he said. 'Pas de problème' he said. Took a photo of the meter, had a coffee and off he toddled.
So either I was extremely lucky and got an unusually laid-back technicien or the reports of untoward behaviour, lies and threats are a bit exaggerated.
Of course, it could have been the casual mention of the whopping great wasps nest just above the meter that did the trick :D

Or...instead of stamping on the nests (like I do, once the occupants have been disposed of), I'll collect them up and flog them :lol: The double-skin parabole should be good for about €150 :D

Just caught the end of a news item where it was suggested that Linky had been responsible for a house fire. In the Aquitaine region.
