I spend up to 9 months of every year in UK and the rest in France. I found Metro Bank very handy for the no-commission top notch exchange rate on the debit card in Europe and recently started to use a Starling Bank card because that gives an equally good rate all over the world when using its debit card.
Today, while researching money transfer companies for the repatriation of anticipated house sale funds, I found out about Starling Bank's Euro account.
While not free, it charges 0.4%.

Re: Starling Bank - Euro Account
Well I never ! I just happened to take a look at the Hot Deals Website and saw this. It doesn't talk about a euro account which was my main point earlier, but it does cover a multitude of UK banks and their euro exchange options. The piece explains far better than I ever could.

Re: Starling Bank - Euro Account
I have such an account and I highly recommend it, exchange rates are comparable to other new fintechs, and soon the U.K. card will also work as a Euro card also. It’s a real account so can be used at fuel pumps, withdrew 200 euros as cash on Tuesday also.....
