Anna Maria Island off the Gulf Coast of Florida, standing waist deep whilst fish swim around me in shallow, clear water. Failing that anywhere in the Keys looking out to sea.

On the terrace of the resto de la planche des belles filles, overlooking the final hairpin bend on D16e, waiting for what I hope will be a great finish....

My job had me travelling abroad weekly and, as a consequence, I am a homer now.

But, circumstances dictated that I visit Tobago recently. I was very reluctant for many reasons - cost, travel time and distance, heat (heat, there's a laugh as I returned to a scorching France and a parched garden). In short I fell in love with the place, the wildlife, the people and attitude to life. I was already in love with the rum! It's a small Island so, I guess I'd get bored eventually, but what a place to be bored in.

If you are into retail and shopping don't go there!

Near Vinaros, Costa Azahar - between Barcelona and Valencia - only about 5 hours drive from home but another world away! One thing I've learnt from all my travels is that you often don't have to go far to find your corner of paradise 8-) :D 8-) :D

Back in '67 I visited Port of Spain, Trinidad and was approached by an ancient local who volunteered to show us around, gratis. He showed us loads of interesting places and after a quick look through Google I see most of them have changed beyond recognition. He finished our little tour by introducing us to his pals at his local barber shop for a chat and a laugh. I popped out to the offy next door and we shared a bottle of the nicest rum I have ever tasted. I'm pretty sure everyone there had an equally nice time. Such was my experience with their hospitality.

Does it have to be just one?

If not,

Vienna for its palaces

Warsaw, for Krakow and Prague

Rome (have been once but too hot to proper sightsee)

Barcelona (have been a few times but love it)

Corsica

Sicily

Malta

Crete, and other Greek islands so far only been to Greece and Corfu

Florida to swim with Dolphins

Mauritius

Vietnam and Cambodia

Sri Lanka

Dubai (only did a stop over at the airport)

Australia

New Zealand

Emirates- all of them

There are probably more but I can't think at the moment. A pretty big bucket list. I know I haven't got the time or money to see most of them. So I dream!
