It is tedious when a thread is taken off topic because you are bored.

I am out walking the dog and replying to you. One of those two things is the wrong thing to be doing.

The British are quite reserved in comparison to the French.
"The French" is tarring everyone with the same brush. The leeches who attach themselves to the gilet jaune movement, the mob mentality as Aardvark said, are a very small percentage of those who have legitimate and justifiable complaints against what they see as social inequalities. The British shown expressing obnoxious views are simply ignorant and blinkered about a subject they really don't understand.

I am waiting for the kids cat to come home. It is gone missing :(

I have been trawling the streets this morning to trying find it.

Such is life.

Not really, the French strike and protest to the extreme. Farmers, lorry drivers....or whoever.

The French are quite violent.

I think the country as a whole has become much less English, if English values still include justice, fair play, tolerance and kindness.
When were those qualities ever apparent in the English except in their own self-righteous imaginations?
The English establishment (Whisper it softly) is as venal, self-regarding, exceptionalist, arrogant, entitled and empiricist as they always have been. You probably have to be Scottish or Irish to fully appreciate that.

English people as individuals are just the same as everyone else - a mixture of all that is good and bad in people.

I read today of the thumbs of Indian weavers being cut off (will check the exact year later) and of the high tariffs put on their goods to protect weavers in Manchester. I think the myth of the kind and benevolent English values has been well blown out of the water. Never existed.

I would be cautious ALBF.

If you substituted Jews for French, you would be guilty of a hate crime. Tarring any group in the way you do is a silly and frankly dangerous thing to do.

But I hate no one. I am a non hating type of person.

French strikes tend always to be quite violent. It is a cultural thing.

It is a fact.

Maybe the British should adopt the same tactics ?
