Yeh! Well done Tom.

Clue 1: 2/3 of equine = equi + announces arrival at the door (sounds like) knocks = nox - straight clue on this day.

Clue 2: Twice a year (straight clue) e missing from equine = equin, alongside (+) bovine = ox = equinox
