The problem with your style of clues, Nifty, is that regular contributors get put off by the seeming impossibility of them, so stop visiting the thread, which is a shame.

Of course it does. The only cryptic clues I see these days are on here. I'd forgotten about the 3D (10) and 7A (11) type.

Editing the clue and adding the punning extras sent me down the google path, my memory told me brown and ginger were linked. Sorry to have cheated.
