The answer is not really an animal but, in the case of one of the answers is named after one.
All words are different but they refer to the same thing.

What is the relevance of your answer to ‘If one is a bit-of-a-chicken, perhaps’

No. Answer is 5 words including the ‘or’ because both proper nouns refer to the the same thing.
First word ends with y.

Their are no anagrams. I used the hang gliding ref as it could be construed a contributing to or being associated with the solution in more that one way..

I rather rushed into first clue, I revised it as I thought it very difficult to get.
I think that with a bit of lateral thinking and use of logic, a correct answer should be found..
