Orange fr and a change of format?

Post by F Flinstone »

Recently Orange fr has changed the look of the way they present e-mails, I dont particular like it, but PDF files are different as well, have tried to print some off but they are crap!, it has ghosting on the first page and it dosn't show this on the preview page but when printed it prints out all Orange information of the mails on either side :x what Iam I doing wrong. Thanks

Improved User Experience strikes again. :(

If you are using a PC you could use an e-mail reader such as Thunderbird.

Or you could set up an alternative e-mail account with another service and get your Orange e-mails sent to that account and read them there.

For example set up a Gmail account and either get Orange to forward all your e-mails to that account or get Gmail to retrieve the e-mails from your Orange account and then read them in Gmail.

I'm not sure of the last time I accessed my Wanadoo (now Orange) accounts directly. I get all the e-mails passed on as I find the Gmail spam filter is so much better than the Orange spam filter.

I used to use Thunderbird, but it stopped working, showing a message along the lines of it had reached its maximum processing ability. I would like to have an email client like that again, which downloads emails from all my accounts, but apart from Thunderbird, there don't seem to be a lot of simple options about.

Very strange. I haven't seen any change in the presentation of emails and the few pdfs I get seem to be the same as well.
Perhaps there is a roll-out of the change.

It seems to be wall to wall adverts for their stuff now - maybe time to look for another solution such as 4G.

The layout is more or less the same but the print is much larger and in a very bold type face, you only get about ten e-mails showing at one time, you then have to scroll down. The PDFs before, you just clicked on them and they opened on the full page, now you have a little thumbnail to click on and then that opens to a slightly larger page, in black :? then you have to enlarge that and read your PDF, have posted this on the Orange forum page but no help yet.

You don't say how long ago it was since you stopped using Thunderbird? Did you routinely compact folders? If you used Windows, did you run CCleaner or Glary Utilities regularly to clear the caches/junk from your computer?

Have you tried reinstalling the latest version of Thunderbird to see if you have the same problems?

There are two other Windows e-mail clients which I know are easy to use and have more modern user interfaces, Mailbird, which is not derived from Thunderbird (there is a free version https://www.getmailbird.com ) and a Windows version of the highly-recommended mobile e-mail client, TypeApp (you can sign up for the beta version http://www.typeapp.com/windows/)
