The best singer/songwriters were in the 70s - Browne/Mitchell/Ian/McClean/Bowie. The only ones that hang onto their coat tails after that were Natalie Merchant/Sarah McCloughlin, can't think of any others. Amy Mcdonald's first LP was great but that's it.
I've been thinking over what you said and thought I'd have a look back after reading what you said, yep things were "different" in the 70s-

Fantastic - I actually purchased the album after hearing this and play it loud and often in my car - brilliant group
