Today's edition of Desert Island Discs featured Kate Atkinson as the castaway. I've been enjoying her novels for years, so looked forward to hearing her on DID and finding out something about her and her choice of music. I wasn't disappointed: she was delightful, intelligent, amusing, very interesting, particularly when she explained about her upbringing, her parents and how she started writing, and chose an eclectic selection of discs to take with her to the island. A smashing listen.
If you're a Kate Atkinson fan you could do worse than catching the repeat on Friday morning.

Yesterday was also pleasurable with England spanking the wallabies at Twickenham. Ooh er, should that be posted in the sport section ……….?
Bon dimanche,
Syd.
I heard the repeat yesterday and, as you said, a smashing listen - a real pleasure.

My husband had a high temperature this morning, so I was concerned that he might be starting an infection in his wounds but it’s back to normal, so heaved a sigh of relief.

Travelled on autoroutes from Nevers to Calais this afternoon in five hours and only encountered the gilets jaunes once at the payage near Fontainebleau. We passed through directly without paying.

😀 Merci muchly GJs.

Will be my first trip back to England in nine years and I'm a bit nervous that everything will seem very strange... Say repeatedly; tenez la gauche, tenez la gauche.

Last time I drove in the UK the car coming down the road had smoke coming off her tyres. I was on the wrong side
Good luck.

Yes, it’s good to have it on the doorstep, not quite like a bottle of milk of course, ££ or £££££ dearer.
