There use to be a pair of communal bins just across the road from me. For reasons unknown they disappeared one day. Now I have to trudge up the lane (uphill) with my bags about 300m. Thanks a bunch.

Take your rubbish to the bins in your car.
That's what every man & his dog around here seems to do. Our large communal bins, meant for the 6 houses in our Lieu Dit, are full the day after emptying due to folk stopping off on their way to work to empty their rubbish in our bins.

I’ve been so pleased to find that the strong winds haven’t depleted the apple blossom too much; it’s a real bumper year for it. Although maybe I ought to wish that more is blown off, as the apples aren’t very tasty and are too small to use as cookers, plus so many have to be picked up from the lawn and taken to the tip. 🙂

That is certainly an option, although not a terribly "green" one. And the 300m car journey to the bins works out at about 5 times that because the lane is a one-way.

We've had quite a lot of blossom on our new apple trees and I was hopeful for a decent crop this year. But because of the hard frosts the pollinators are few and far between.

Making a fellow Scot laugh when he and his Welsh wife were arguing over a purchase in the supermarket. I sidled up to him and spoke this joke to him quietly and then walked away.

If a man expresses an opinion in a forest and there isn't a woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?
I don't know what her reaction was when he had to explain his laughter.

Depends how she feels about everyday sexism
