Mother really!

Post by menomad23 » Mon Mar 05, 2018 11:33 am

My dear old Mum, bless her had some flowers delivered this morning,
"Good Morning Mrs C, I,ve bought you some flowers"
"What are you buying me flowers for, I know you, aren,t you married, whats your wife going to think"
"Err no Mrs C I am delivering them to you from the flower shop"
"Oh thats alright I,ll take them then, Is there any chocolates with them"

I did not know whether to laugh or cringe, this poor guy is in his thirties and my Mum is just about to be 90 lol!

Many years ago I built a slim fish tank for wall mounting & used a mirror at the back to make it appear bigger.
Mother was entranced with the fish & spent a while looking at them before announcing that " It's funny how they all swim in pairs isn't it"

When my mother had her 75th birthday she said, 'Half way to 80.'

Actually it was half way to 150

I.m sorry if I upset you Doug, it was just meant to be a light-hearted story, my mum has practically all her marbles, and thoroughly enjoys winding me and my siblings up and has now included her new neighbour. Example neighbours told her they were having a karaoke night and she might hear some music. "Thats fine, I will switch my tele off so I can listen to it" said my mum. Mum sat there for an hour couldn,t hear anything so phoned them up and asked them to turn it up as she had moved her coffee table and was going to have a dance. My neighbours were in hysterics.

At my age what else is there to do? Sod it ! I'm certainly not going to spend what's left of my life moping around waiting for the inevitable so joking about it seems fair enough to me.
I live each day as it comes & whilst I don't want to be dead I accept that it'll happen one of these days.
Just hope it doesn't hurt too much when it happens.
