We had a barbecue today with a couple brits we know in the Limousin, first this year. Watered the new plants and headed back home. Meant to be very hot over the next couple of days.

Soirée piste organised by our running club, 800m and 5km races with selected invited clubs on our all weather track, commentator with P.A. system, timing etc, always a really good atmosphere and a chance to meet people from clubs we dont normally run against, Boulogne were invited this time, first sunny warm session this year and my first competition since coming out of hospital.

I didnt expect much and was not dissapointed, oldest runner there and came last, crossed the line with the youngest who I did not even know was behind me, I thought I was last and she got some steam up and flew past me at the last second.

Today I am a veteran 2, tomorrow I will become a veteran 3, but for one day I could have done the 5K and have been guaranteed a podium position. As of tomorrow I will be the youngest runner in my class instead of the oldest competing against those 10 years younger.

I have a hell of a lot of work to do to get back to my previous fitness, tonight was really the first step with it being an enchainement from last nights quarry ascents, up till now I have been so whacked as to need at least 3 days between sessions.

I supervised a locksmith fitting new locks in 12 apartments for friends who had given me or posted their keys to me. Following 2 apartments being broken into via their front doors, some of us decided to go in for better security - the locksmith showed me how very quickly he could break one of the original locks, with no noise to alert others - frighteningly easily.

Unfortunately I missed most ot today’s lovely weather. ☹️
