I’ve been packing for our trip to Devon, which we booked quite a long time ago and feared would be called off if the government changed what was allowed, but as cases if Covid have dropped so dramatically, it can go ahead.

We’ve rented a cottage in a small village near Dartmouth, sleeps up to 8, so we’ll rattle about in it, but it’s well-positioned, with views of the river Dart and I was really attracted to it.

This will be our first break since December 2019, apart from one single night in Boulogne on 31st January 2020 to avoid all the celebrations when the UK left the EU.

I hope you have a great week away. (Did the cake arrive?)

A cottage overlooking the Dart sounds idyllic.

We haven't been away since September 2018. We lost our trusted house/animal sitters due to ill health after that. It's hard to find someone confident and experienced enough to look after a timid (ergo can be snappy) dachsie, 4 cats, and 2 horses. We bought our house from those people so they were well used to all the quirky things here that could go wrong.

Hope you have a really great time and good weather.

Thank you so much, Veem, we’re really looking forward to being there; we visited Devon about 3 years ago for the first time in ages, spent a day at Dartmouth and loved the area.

Yes, I can imagine that finding sitters with relevant experience for your lovely menagerie would be really difficult.

@ Gigi, that sounds lovely, hope you have nice warm days there to enjoy some pleasant walks.

@ Veem, hope you find someone with the experience to house sit for you again. Would happily have volunteered, Demon likes making new friends but been too long since I used to help out a stables :) .

Just back from a very slow cycle ride with Demon and Mysty, was just a little wobbly :).

@ats What a kind thought - even though it can't become a reality.
