Hitting the bottle

Post by mysty » Sun Mar 04, 2018 9:29 pm

Does anyone still have a drink if they are going out in the car the following day. We have started buying the smaller bottles which gives you about a glass and a bit. I think the French are drinking less. You used to see the French knocking back the wine with there lunch but I think a lot of them have cut back.

I am quite lucky my wife shares local driving so we can take turns of having a wee glass of wine or two. Any long drives I drive, and am aware that you have to be sensible in drinking the night before. Just not worth losing your licence or your vehicle .

Did you know that you can not drink a whole normal-sized bottle in one go?

For research purposes, I'll work my way through 75cl over 3-5 days, to see how allowing it to breathe for an increasingly long time changes the flavours. Most of the wines I buy tend to be at their best 24 hours after opening.

But yes, I've noticed a lot more French people not drinking wine with their déjeuner, specifically stating that it's because they're driving.

Mind you, I still know plenty of people who compare text messages at the end of a night's drinking and dancing, so they know which bushes on they way home the gendarmes are hiding behind. :?

Totally agree, very dangerous hitting the bottle, risk of breaking it and loosing the red nectar.

And that was good advice, good advice.
