House insurance

Post by Jazzieb »

Could anyone explain the difference between 'Souhaitez-vous faire une réclamation?' and 'Souhaitez-vous faire une déclaration de sinistre ?' This is what I was asked when I requested a claim form for a household accident.
TIA.

I thought they were the same thing.
All orders were now issued through Squealer or one of the other pigs. Napoleon himself was not seen in public as often as once in a fortnight.

Do you wish to declare an incident? (loss)

and

Do you wish to make a claim?

You probably have to do the former within a certain delai, notifying them of an impending claim, the actual value and details of the claim may not be known for some while after, getting devis' finding other things missing, inventing others

I am not sure but I think sinistre means something like a fire or flood or some such thing - Id look it up but Im going to bed now

Chancer - I had thought they were the other way round, so glad I asked. Thanks.

une réclamation = a complaint
:good: Chancer's right; in the context of insurance 'une réclamation' means a claim.

:D Pity that the French language doesn't have the nice distinction that we have between the words assurance and insurance.
