We received this message from our CA agent last week, she writes in english. What does it mean?. She still hasn't closed our account:
"I wait the reimbursment for the share to close your account."
No idea what the 'share' is.
Google obviously didnt work for her then !!

Its a good example of why its better to encourage people to speak in their own language and do the translation yourself.

I wrote asking what shares are and got this reply today:
"Shares, ce sont les parts sociales, elles vont être remboursées.
Dès que cela est fait je clôturerai les comptes.
Bonne journée ".
I'm still none the wiser.

I've tried a couple of different translators and I still haven't a clue. They used every excuse in the book when I tried to leave but they didn't bang on about shares. Good luck with your adventure. :good:

From what you say it doesn't appear you've been in touch with CA's English Speaking Service. If you haven't why not give them a call? I've used our local Service (Atlantique Vendée) in the past and found them very helpful. There should be one in your dept staffed by Brits and fluent English speaking French staff. When I had a problem with a cheque I'd paid into our local branch and this got incredibly complicated, I spoke to the CA ESS, explained my side of things, they then contacted my local branch and resolved the issue.

Bon weekend,

I can explain this.

You are a partenaire sociale (might be actionnaire sociale) with the local branch, it might be a coalition of local branches but not of the whole region, I think its by invitation only as a running partner is now directrice of my branch and she invited me to become one.

You can invest up to €7700 and will have shares giving you a vote on what charities, associations, local initiatives etc that they support, you can also attend the banques AGM (not sure if you can vote) the dividend on the shares is twice the rate paid on any of the livret A's, LDD's etc.

Does this ring a bell? If so then you may be able to answer a couple of my questions.

Her last message is saying that the value of the shares will be repaid to you and when that happens (no doubt there is un delai à respecter) they will close all of the accounts.

Hope that helps!

We have just moved our CA account from one region to another, had to open an account in our local town first.
Every thing is transferred except our shares which will take till September as midi Pyrenees only has a meeting each four months, here its every month.
May be the reason for the delay.

Chancer - I think you could be right.
We had a couple of recent small reimbursements for ?cards which could be that. I've reminded her about those, see what she says. She has always been very helpful.

 France is a bureaucratic country but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a socialist country, although the two are often considered to be synonymous. According to an opinion poll in May, poor Olivier Faure is only seen as the best contender in the next presidential election by a mere 9% of French electors.

I would be very careful too in wishing for a socialist Britain whilst the Labour Party is led by JC. Should he be elected the Pound would crash and burn.

:D However, if Chuka Umunna were in charge he would definitely get my vote... if only I had one.
