NS&I savings rates plummet

Post by Tom »

Tuesday next, the 24th Nov., is when NS&I main savings rates plummet to a paltry 0.01%. Existing bonds will still run their course but any new savings will pay practically nothing.

If you switch to Premium Bonds, which you can do as a French resident, you still have a 1.0% chance of winning something. Of course it's a bit of a gamble but the average returns are an astounding one hundred times greater than if you held on to a normal savings account.

I get a win/s most months. Usually multiples of 25 pounds.

I like to torment myself by checking the site each month to see if I've won. Only two months this year I haven't won anything. I checked the site this month to discover it's a new style layout (don't like it much personally). I put in my number and got sorry you didn't win this time so imagine my surprise yesterday when my post delivered a letter from NSI - me thinking oh it's the rate change but no it was Congratulations you've won £75. Yippee :D already spent on Christmas gifts!
