Travel between the UK and France - when do you think it will be allowed?

Post by landmannnn »

As per the title, when do you think the borders will be open?
I'm thinking maybe September, what do you think?

I fear September might be about right, after the main holiday period is over. At another time of the year I would have said 3 - 4 months from where we are at the moment but right now that would land us right in the summer holidays with millions champing at the bit.

My thoughts are for travel in September, but my hopes have been moving from last Easter as things got worse. So I wouldn’t put any money on it, just keeping fingers crossed.

Will he ever allow those of us who had 2 jabs of the “quasi” Oxford Astrazeneca to enter France - we might be contaminated! 😏

It is about to be used extensively in France on the over 65s so should be no problem. It may be the only way he can save his job!

My first abandoned effort was last September. Then October. Then December. Then this month. If nothing else covid has been good for the bank balance.
Sorry. For mine. I understand others will be affected differently.

I can see the whole thing being another nightmare unless the rules for crossing borders are somehow harmonised.
Different quarantine regs, handful of different vaccines, different tests and test procedures and different time periods before/after travelling. Thanking my lucky stars I don't want to cross any borders again.

Same here, annual skiing cancelled and at least 4 round trips too, several £1,000s saved.

I'm still hopeful for August as a combination of vaccines and good weather will improve the numbers dramatically. Not holding my breath.
