€21 respray!

Post by Le Démerdeur »

I am old enough to remember £40 being the going rate for a blow-over respray in the 70's but nowadays its thousands of £'s, I never though that nearly 50 years later I would be able to respray something with twice the surface area for half the cost, the finish would not be to everyones taste though as I used my go-to product Crepi with 27g of black colorant per 15kg tub, it took 3 tubs to do the outside and for once I overestimated and had to return the excess material.

I had used it to finish the inside extruded PU insulation on the roof and sides which for some reason used a lot more material, usually I am very accurate with my estimates.

Its a roulotte/cabine de chantier and is the second one that I have done, I have one more to do to complete my fleet :D

Now that is a great transformation. What's it like inside?
Er -- should you not park between the lines?
Absolute-ly..I have become comfortably numb (with ice it's nice)

I could do with one of those to store my boot fair stock. At the moment its mostly filling up my van, effectively blocking me using it for anything else.
Britain: formerly known as a bastion of democracy and fair play that has fallen prey to a handful of financiers, media manipulators, and brain dead racists.

The two so far have cost €200 & €300 respectively plus the cost of repairs.

My plan is to have 3 of them for when my UK place sells & I have to store all my stuff, mainly garage & workshop contents before moving again in France.

One can do the shuttle runs to fill up the others & then the final run, probably in conjunction with a van, 3 of them give the same storage as a shipping container but I can move them around myself to the new place.

I prefer to fit out the insides because then for resale they are much more valuable and sought after, with a WC and évier which is what I removed from the first one they sell for €2K+ or rent for €450 per month.

They look really good and are obviously valuable storage space. Your hard work has obviously been a good investment too.

Not really if you price the time spent, I put no value on it as its a hobby and if it does not actually cost me anything at the final reckoning then I am happy.

And this year its the government paying my labour :D

Its a nice confinement project that gets me outside in the fresh air & to see the world (which ignores the confinement) going by, better than looking from my apartment and seeing the rear of an empty hôtel.

And this is what the coloured Crepi looks like after standing outside in a field for 5 years in all weathers.

This is my Blue Peter one!
