Well yes.

A good friend of my dad ( they were in the pow camp together) was a director of Showerings , the makers of Babycham. Every Xmas he would send us a box of babycham which went down very well.

When I see such a large difference the cynic in me says "In date or close to it"?
With the amount of sugar in the product they’d still be edible five years after the best by date. I was quite partial to them as a kid.
The 'best by' date is there for a reason and if it is imminent most retailers will reduce the price.

The 'best by' date is required by law, but doesn't necessarily mean anything, depending on the product.

As a teenager I used to love drinking snowballs, felt very grown-up.

According to Kirsty Allsopp After Eights are even better after being in the freezer - apparently they are then as crispy and chewy as possible.

I’ve never tried that, but as soon as a box of them is opened in our house they seem to disappear incredibly quickly, don’t know how. 😀 maybe freezing them might slow down my rate of eating them............

Agreed. I have seen salt and sugar with BBE dates. However, for many products BBE and UBD should be followed.

Great Christmas game:
Place an After Eight on your forehead, and get it to slide down your face to your mouth (no hands).
