Jean-Michel Jarre “Alone Together” concert

Post by After the Storm »

His virtual reality concert is tonight https://jeanmicheljarre.com/ If, like us, you don’t have one or more virtual reality headsets then you can still watch it in 2D on various places including YouTube tonight. Concert starts at 9.15pm tonight.
He says his virtual reality concert will be what cinema was to the theatre and France is leading the way. This will be first complete concert done in this way. More info about here https://www.leparisien.fr/culture-loisi ... 339103.php

I heard him on the radio talking about it this morning. It's an interesting idea, but a retrograde one in my view. I don't want more ideas to cut people off from one another.
Same old nonsense.

You don't have to comply Flaneur.

You could go out at will.
Leave your mask behind.
Shake hands and do the kissy thing to abandon.
Ignore minimum distancing.
Share drinking vessels and cutlery.
Breathe heavily over people - better still cough over them.
Ignore frequent washing (of hands)
Organise mass gatherings and ensure that you are at the heart.

After all - survival is not compulsory.

Maybe he didn't mean it, but keeping people apart is all that is stopping the virus getting out of control.

My take on what he was saying was perhaps not directly to do with CV19 but the fact that so much now is impersonal..Facebook,twitter , shopping etc that this was yet another impersonal thing.
Who knows?
No doubt Flaneur :D

There's no guarantee even I know what I'm talking about :)

"[J-M Jarre] says his virtual reality concert will be what cinema was to the theatre and France is leading the way".

I know that VR can be amazing - I've a friend who took a VR tour of Versailles - but, amazing as it is, it won't take the place of proper concerts and that shared experience we all want to get back to.
Same old nonsense.

I remember watching one of his concerts on the TV back in the 1990s can't remember if it was London or Paris but it was fantastic.
