Ebay make money from the seller for the listing fee and the commission, then they get the 3.4% Paypal skim off because they own Paypal and do their best to force sellers to accept it, now they are taking a big another cut from the buyer for the Global Shafting Program. :(

And who gets the blame unless the buyer makes the effort to dig beneath the cover up? - The poor seller of course :(

Ebay no longer own Paypal, they sold it off in 2015.
Sometime this year they are due to downgrade Paypal from being their main payment option.

Have to say my last purchase was on Visa card - but then "converted" by eBay from Euros to Pounds at an equally favourable rate (to eBay).

My eBay purchases are few and far between now - sadly some used items are only available there.

One thing I’ve noticed now I can’t get books from the library is that they’ve gone up a lot on eBay, Amazon, and Abe books, very annoying. A boxed set I was too tight to buy at £29.99 is now nearly £100.

Thankfully neighbour has loaned a few to keep me going.

I have Abe books saved but yet to use them, they used to be really cheap, is it the popular titles that have shot up or all old books?

Thanks for that, were they forced to do so by the competition authority?

No they weren't forced to it's another Ebay " improvement". In future buyers will find all the payment processing will be done within Ebay, no need to leave the site to make the payment.
Paypal for buyers will just be another payment option not a central feature.
Ironically it doesn't work for users of the global shipping programme!

Since they have been incorporated into Amazon, they get suggested prices from the Amazon protocols.
There are still some anomalies however. I tried to buy a book on Amazon but the seller would not send to France. The same seller on Abebooks at the same price did sell to France.
Not all the ducks are lined up yet - thank goodness.

Being in a position of having to do most of my shopping online I have noticed an increasing trend within the Ebay sellers. Sheer greed. Latest example is wanting to buy a little bulb for the instrument panel on my van. UK seller has what I want at £2.50 but the greedy pig wants £9.95 to send it to France. It is about the size of a chick pea! I have ordered a pack of 10 for £1.99 post free from China. The nearest source here that might have one is a 60km round trip so I'm not going to waste time and effort even looking.
If it's these little things I've got lots. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/401525445728?c ... 728&target
PM me your address & I'll post you a couple.
:good: You're a star! That's the exact one. But thanks anyway as I have already placed the order from China. Thanks for the offer.
I hope your not in a rush if it's coming from china :innocent:

I think sometimes on Ebay they hope you do not look at the postage costs.
