My best ever entrance into a bar had to be Wetherspoon's Countinghouse in Dundee. It sits on an acute angle corner with the door right on the corner so that when you enter the whole bar is in your line of site. Early lunchtime on a Sunday about 18 years ago Sally and I entered. It wasn't very busy. Around 2 or three dozen customers. As we entered the whole place fell silent as every pair of eyes turned to look at us. In my best pirate accent and accompanied by a dig in the ribs from Sally I said. "Not from around these parts are ye?" Thankfully, not a tough pub. A few laughed and the rest turned back to their beers.
Ayrshire boys rule!
I say pirate accent but I've never met a Pirean so I don't know how good it was.

No :D one of the nicest guys I’ve known was a Tim.

Purely and simply because of this https://www.jdwetherspoon.com . He has a right to express his opinions and I have a choice where to spend my money and it will not be in any of his pubs.

I don't like wetherspoons either. Not for any specific reason, there is just something about them that leaves me a little bit cold.

I've been in one or two, mainly when on holiday, it's a long walk to the toilet facilities usually upstairs, the tables generally wanted clearing of uneaten food, and it's difficult to get served at the bar, other than that, cheap beer and wine. Depends what your priorities are I suppose.

When ATS started this thread, as much as I dislike Tim Martin, I had no intention of boycotting JD Wetherspoon. Good beers at a good price and reasonable food at reasonable prices. That has changed tonight. I've just learned that JD Wetherspoon bars will no longer sell wines from the EU and several European beers will be dropped. I'll wager a pied a terre en France that Guinness is still available. Money grabbing, country hating a-hole.

They said that a while ago. Government ministers say do not give in to the EU bullies.
The public take it in and weatherspoons will do well out of fake news.
Personally I think a second referendum will fail now as no one is stopping the bullying lies.
Who is going to vote to stay in when “all the EU are doing is milking the UK, its like there own personal cash cow.”
When brexit goes wrong it will still be the EUs fault “they blocked the great free trade deals”.

If I want a cheap pint of beer I'll go to Wetherspoons, if I want a discussion on Brexit I'll come on here. :)
