Powerfix moisture meter.

Post by Crazy Diamond » Tue Jan 08, 2019 11:38 am

I thought some of you may be interested that Lidl are selling the above commencing Thursday 10 January. They are priced at €9.99 which is a bargain - I paid twenty odd sovs for mine years ago. Mine is mainly used for checking the moisture content of our logs, to ensure they're below the minimum recommended level of 25%, but of course the meter can be used to check the moisture level of plaster and other construction materials. In my limited experience Powerfix tools are quality items, so this seems a steal.

I have one and its OK but not a patch on my "go-to" one here:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/EMT01-T ... st=ae803_3

And at €6.63 delivered to your door from China it does indeed make my Powerfix one seem like a steal!

So you've got two moisture meters. You sure know how to save money!

Having properties in two countries I have gradually had to double up on most things, some things like spanners, mutti-meters etc are even duplicated 4 or 5 times to save walking backwards and forwards, one set in the car, one in my workshop here, another in the garage, ditto in the UK.

When they cost next to nothing these days and are often of better quality than what I have bought years back when I could ill afford it its a way of upgrading but still getting use out of the originals.

A lot of stuff comes from rédéries and car boot sales.

I have 4 electric razors also, 2 in each country in case one breaks down which it did last week.

I am obviously lacking, having only two, given as presents in the last twenty years or so. But I have worn a full beard for the past 47 years, work that out.

Aliexpress really are a revelation. Ordered the above connectors on the 27th Dec and they arrived yesterday for €3.01 delivered. Have loaded a single connector with a 1.5 and a 2.5 rigid along with a 1.5 flexible multi-strand and all three are gripped very tightly at the same time.

 Eat your heart out, Wago!

Seperation anxiety :D

Also someone that know if you keep something long enough it will come back into fashion!

I still have a pair of Lionels from when I was 18, they fit again which is different to saying that they still fit!

Oh Tom that is upsetting, after resisting Wagos (like anything eles that people rave about) for so long before realising that everyone was right I have spent loads of money on them and building up a stock, never gave a thought to Ali-express.

Thankfully they are the old type that take your fingernail off before releasing, I use exlusively the 22x series but they cost even more, will try Ali-express before re-ordering any.
