It certainly looks French in the same Jules Verne genre as colliers Atlas and the standard FT telephone plug that is still attached to most new phones and comes as an adaptor with a ADSL box.

You can probably still find them on the shelves of my local Brico's by their own admission some of their stock lines has sat on the shelves so long that they laugh when I say "you have 3 widgets will you be ordering more?" and tell me that they doubt the supplier even exists, its been 25 years since they re-ordered

The porcelain ceiling rose reminds me of my Grandparents house in the 1950s !
In the garage of this house was a porcelain light fitting with a brass bayonet lamp holder and two conductors wrapped around the roof timbers and......no earth wire
Will see if I still have it and will try to post a photie

This looks like the picture RA posted. It's a copy of a 1910 original by a French/Belgian company for twin braided cloth cable.

For the OP a couple of plastic ceiling roses complete with 6" flex and bc bulb holders can be had from Amazon uk for just under £14 delivered to France.

Tom, your lucky number is up - post 777 - so nothing could possibly go wrong, but I'm afraid it is someone else who posted this picture.

Just had a look in my box of original fittings from our house here in Burgundy when I renewed the electrics and came up with these two!

As Tom suggested I ordered 7 ceiling roses from Amazon UK which were delivered to France and now plugged and fixed to ceilings

I think the 3 pole Wago 294 to be the most convenient for connecting light fittings: https://www.connexbox.com/wagobox-light-wbl-294.html they also fit inside the standard Wago box.
