This is the back of the terraced house.

To the right of the white back door is the only bit of drain in the house. It goes down inside the house but no sign of pipe outside.
The blue door to the right contains the lavatory. Th soil pipe from the pan goes straight down. And then ??
Perhaps into the neighbours garden or where ?

Up hill is to the front and there is no sign of manhole covers in the road to the front.

Time to dig and explore.

You may have to lift the lavatory to get any idea of where the exit pipe goes. With the unit disconnected you might also be able to see or hear if the waste pipe in the house runs into the same drain. It might be worth thinking about a macerator WC (broyeur) for the house. The waste pipe for these is only 50mm. BD often have ones like these below on offer for less than €200 and they are very reliable.

Quite true the outlet is only 50mm, but give some thought to what happens when it stops working, and they do stop working, the thing itself will be full up and you have to empty it to get it working again, you only do this once and it gets ripped out, don't ask.

Does it matter where it goes, just T into it and run the rest of your waste plumbing into the T junction.

Deep joy.

Madam was tasked to excavate and found not only a soil pipe but a perfectly aligned junction to accept the new discharge from the upstairs bathroom.

Meanwhile, upstairs, I sat on the floor for two long days with a diamond core drill working through hard granite at 5mm per hour to make the hole.

I like the French blue boiler suit, what happened to Madam's flip flops and baggy shorts like the rest of us wear when we are working.

Good work though :good: .
