I applied for it. They came and did it a couple of weeks ago. I signed a form for them to reclaim the cost from the state and I paid the man a euro and that was it.
Hi Debra,

I'm in Charente 16 as well, in Chabanais. Would you care to share which company you used for the insulation, I'd appreciate it

Thanks

David
Friends in the Charente had it done recently, they paid €1. They dealt with this person, she spoke good English.

Hello, Could anyone recommend a Company around south Dordogne/north Lot-et-Garonne that could give us a quote for insulation.
Many thanks!

A couple of points on this thread:

1. The cold calls are driving me mad.

2. Yes, it’s a good scheme but check the company out first. I recently read that some companies make a complete hash of it. If you have to call them back to fit it properly the homeowner bears the cost as there is no further refunds from the government.

If you can find it on Replay, have a look at the first part of Envoyé Spéciale which was on France 2 last night, 6 February, it was specifically on this subject and how it works. Apparently a lot of the 'companies' are heads of the same hydra and the installers are often Roumanians or Moldavians, with only a little spoken French, with the installation being done fast and unprofessionally.

What's the catch? I've had a few calls but my French isn't great so I just told them non merci...

No catch. Had both my loft and cellar insulated under the 1€ scheme. Excellent work and one heck of a difference! It's simply the power / energy providers who are legally required to fund the scheme as part of their carbon offset contribution. No brainer!
