Red button not working

Post by Tom » Mon Dec 02, 2019 10:29 pm

:?: Don't know whether this is a problem that just afflicts our cheap Bush Freesat box but often the red button doesn't work. Frequently nothing at all happens, sometimes it says 'wait' and occasionally it actually does work correctly.

Pity, because snooker on BBC 1 is only available in the evenings with the red button. That's always a good programme to have on whilst snoozing after dinner. But there is a simple solution. Press 981 on the handset and Voila... BBC RB1.

:D No waiting for slow menus to load: No bother with selecting channels: 981 delivers instant red button snooker and then you can revert to normal channels immediately without any delay.

And that was good advice, good advice.

Sounds to me as though it might be a problem with the strength/quality of the signal you are receiving .. whether it is your box or your lnb or the orientation of your dish .. which is at fault then I know not.
Substantial rain plays havoc with signal reception too.

That might be true Sue but reception on all channels, including HD, is excellent. The normal red button selection process is rather tedious and laggy at the best of times but 981 switches on and off immediately, just like any normal channel.

Dry run?

"From early 2020, viewers will no longer be able to access text-based BBC News and BBC Sport content by pressing red," a BBC spokesperson said.
