Forum Rules

Post by After the Storm » Wed Feb 28, 2018 4:47 pm

These rules can be amended or added to at any time. Break the rules and you could be suspended or banned.

Conduct – Please refrain from inflammatory and defamatory comments as well as flaming, taunting, stalking, bullying, trolling and general disrespect. Personal attacks, aggressive messages, and passive-aggressive behavior are not acceptable.

Have some respect for each and every person on here, racist, swearing or sexist language will not be tolerated. Remember, not everyone that comes on here might be an adult so keep the language clean.

If a user is perceived to be posting with the sole purpose of starting a squabble or hassling another poster then they will be suspended or banned. Anyone that thinks they have a problem with a poster then click the notification icon and let us know, do not answer on the forum, walking away is the best response. Posts deemed to be an attempt to just be disruptive to this forum will be removed. Anyone posting just to provoke a reaction will have their posts deleted and will end up being banned if their behaviour does not change.

This forum is put together by volunteers so whilst you are responsible for your own behaviour, you can give us some help by letting us know if someone else is breaking the rules, do ignore them but let us know so it can be dealt with. Any moderating done on here is not to limit discussions, neither is it promote or suppress points of views. The idea is to keep the forum enjoyable for everyone to use so any help in achieving this is appreciated.

Pre-Moderation
Users who have shown themselves to be disruptive could have their account put into Pre-Moderation which means any post will be read first by a moderator before it goes up. If someone tries to get round this by creating a new account then it will just result in them being banned.

Don't carry arguments over from other forums please. Any posts criticising other forums or users or moderators here and elsewhere will be deleted. Also, if you have any questions about other forums or want to talk about they are doing then please go to those forums to post those questions or comments there.

Talk about anything you like, but if you start putting up links to dubious websites then expect to lose your account at best. Child porn links will lead to your details being forwarded to the relevant authorities.

You are all responsible for your own behaviour, if you break the rules, the answer "but I was just answering back" is not an excuse.

Behaviour that can get you suspended or banned -
Insults. Direct personal insult of another user. No you can not call someone an idiot or any other name you think up. Stick to the topic of the thread.
Harassment. Intimidating a particular user, harassing them, sending them rude or unwanted private messages, disrupting their threads, etc.
Threats. Any threat or intimation of a threat.
Multiple registration. You can register only one account.
Trolling.

Finally, our Guidelines and Forum Rules cannot cover everything so we reserve the right to edit or remove any content and take any action necessary to ensure the smooth running of the forum and the protection of all members and admin.
All messages on the forum express the views of the Orginal Poster and no one else will be held responsible for the content. We also do not vouch for or guarantee the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message posted on this forum.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the site to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, racist, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or violate any law.
You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you have permission from the author or the copyright is owned by you.

New set up and guidelines.

Post by After the Storm » Sun Jul 28, 2019 9:47 pm

There are a couple of things that have changed on the forum such as the “contact us” below the banner above which, when it is clicked, explains when to use that option. The notification icon works just the same. For the most part nothing will change for anyone that uses the forum, it will be just the same as before. If you have never heard from us before by pm about posts then you will likely never hear from us, you are using the forum as it was hoped it would be with no intervention needed from us. You’ve either read the guidelines or you just know what makes this place enjoyable and a good, useful place to use for yourself and others.
The most significant change is that you will see that all usernames are the same colour. Given what happened last week which led us to saying to each other “that is enough, it’s taking up too much of our free time to read and deal with spats or unnecessarily unfriendly posts and it is no longer any fun to have”, we decided to think of how to change that given the response from ajm and others on their “sadness” thread when we said it would close and the messages sent by pms which we thank you for.
So the biggest change (which in no small way is thanks to Mike who has changed and updated the forum so, for example, spammers can no longer easily join) is that there are no moderators, no “us and them” but just “us”. That does not mean that there are no moderators anywhere because we are asking you, in a way, to all be moderators, with your own posts and how you respond to others on here. Disagree by all means with a topic but do not criticise the person just giving their opinion. We all know what amusing banter is and when it’s just someone having a dig at someone else for whatever reason. Over the years on FE and on here, it is obvious when people have known each other for a long time and are just messing with each other. We are certainly not asking for people to be excessively polite or to not joke with each other but we are not prepared to mediate fights or deal with anyone shouting others down. If we wanted to mediate, we’d take exams to get the qualifications and get paid for it, doing it for nothing and getting no pleasure from it is what we’d rather avoid and we don’t see why anyone else should now be asked to do it either. We are simply asking any new or existing members to remember that it is a friendly forum and just have some respect for the others on here, that way we all benefit and so I will now quote Vic/why me who said this morning “Any road, if all goes as planned, me & my guitars are available to attend campsite forum gatherings to play along with my rendition of Kumbaya. (weddings & bar mitzvahs by appointment).” Are you all ready to join in the chorus? ;) I have a song sheet if anyone doesn't know the words...

So all we are asking is for a “collective responsibility” from all members. We will see how it works and how it goes from here. Enjoy the forum.
