A less than 6 month old MOT acceptable for registration in France for a few of years now.
However it is usable for registration only, once car has carte gris and French plates attached it is a French registered car and will have to have a French CT to be legally on the road.

That is incorrect, the Carte Gris will show the date when the next roadworthyness test is due and that will be the the date when the MOT expires. The MOT remains valid after registration and the car is legal to use on the road.

I am aware of that but what would happen if asked to produce a CT on what is a French registered car, would a UK MOT be acceptable?

Pretty good, paid Monday and carte grise arrived yesterday by recorded delivery but as we didn't hear the postie beep we didn't get it until he came back today 10 mins. ago.
In the parallel universe inhabited by Brexiteers rationality and logic are increasingly inverted if not outright subverted.

Did they give you a PDF of the temporary document with the reg number etc?

I got that and the definitive document like you a couple of days later,

Just found it, Certificat provisoire d'immatriculation, valid one month, shame it didnt carry the same number as the 3 month temporary one that I had initially as I could have used the same plates.

Will be doing mine as soon as I visit the UK and get an MOT on it.
