Re: Partition walls

I always use timber - tried the metal once didn't like it at all. But I only build small stud walls - its not a daily task - I have the tools I need - I know how to make it work - it doesn't cut you every time you look at it and chevrons fit with a big hammer if you're a tad out. If I was about to p...

Re: What are you doing today?

I fixed an engine - the first time in my life me touching an engine hasn't led to an even bigger repair bill. Can mow the lawn now .......... Okay I don't have a clue how - I stuck a bit of wire through some tiny holes in the thing that mixes petrol and air - but it works again. No bits lost (well I...

Re: Electric Boiler

First off, you don't need a plumber. They fit bogs etc & rarely know about heat pumps. ;) Air/water heat pumps will put out water at anything up to about 50/60 deg C & ground source a fair bit hotter dependant on whether gas or water is the ground coil circulating medium. Radiators are normally siz...

Re: Electric Boiler

Can't help re. leccy boiler but have you considered a heat pump? Obviously water temp v rad sizes will depend on where you live if you consider air/water type. Ground source heat pumps can be the DB's in the right situations. Ground source is unlikely to work - granite every where - and costs have ...

Electric Boiler

Right in another topic Mysty you posted vaguely about electric boilers - Heatrae Sadae (?) - thought you'd solved my dilemma - but I'm f***ed if I can work out how the hell you made it work in France with a 60 amp feed. Old oil boiler - getting temperental and oil gets more expensive. Right - so quo...

Re: F1 Coverage is the pits !!

Don't like the ch4 version, better when on BBc1. However if recorded its easy to miss out all the rubbish. Only 4 weeks until we see the Barcelona GP, really looking forward to seeing it "live". Its suffering from the deal with Sky. Last year Channel 4 highlights were probably better than the BBC's...

Re: Netflix -v- Amazon

We have both....Netflix is far better. But...big...but....Netflix is limited in France. You won't get Netflix UK. France does not like competition. It must be an EU thing ;) Its a broadcast rights thing - nothing to do with France/EU . "Broadcasters" only buy rights for a geographic area and in tur...

Re: Overseas Electors Bill 2017-19 Killed

Play nice. Brexit is turning a lot of people into complete spanners - go smell the bloody flowers and relax. He has an opinion - it doesn't chime with your world view - hey ho life goes on - its like watching school children pick on the one who won't conform. On the whole Brexit front - dumb idea bu...

Re: Changing an alternator on a Renault master\vauxkall Movano

I have a sneaking suspicion someone buys an Alfa with their heart, not their head and then decide to fix it themselves to avoid throwing good money after bad. IMHO 8-) I fancied a 156 Spyder myself until I read about their complex/fragile suspension. True - every boy dreams of an Alfa - until they ...

Re: Changing an alternator on a Renault master\vauxkall Movano

Another top tip tip, if something is not working don’t waste your life trying to fix the thing give it to someone else to fix or buy a new one. You can go and have a coffee whilst waiting or go out somewhere nice for the day and best of all you don’t get your hands dirty. What could be more frustra...
