Re: Alternative French Holiday Destinations and Places to See Guide

Strange comment. :? Do you want a holiday in 'France' or a holiday in France. I guess that is what it boils down to. I just think tourist destinations (regardless of season) are artificial. I refer back to my original post. In what way strange? Wolverhampton is pretty much "real" GB but I wouldn't ...

Re: Forgotten recipes?

On the subject of forgotten recipes ...... you probably have to be from the North to have a clue - anyone remember Blackberry Drop and how you make it? Like a sweet Yorkshire Pud with Blackberries/Raspberries dropped in. Can't remember if its frying pan (pancake) or oven - I remember it was lovely a...

I hate to say this, but should you be doing the electrics if you do not know the code or cannot follow it? It is there for you and your families safety..
I'm at more risk of people falling on me from their high horse.

Re: Kitchen Wiring - 6mm .....

Thanks. Nothing I'm missing then. I know why you used to run heavy duty feeds but haven't seen a cooker like that for years. Future proofing from the 1970's.- just like the telephone sockets everywhere. Couldn't see any logical reason in 2017 especially once you're running dedicated circuits for bot...

Kitchen Wiring - 6mm .....

I thought I had this leccy stuff down …… then kitchens. Do I really have to run 6mm cable? At the moment oven -hob – sockets – half the living room sockets and the conservatory plus random assorted lights are all off the present 20A feed and that’s probably wired with spit and hope. And not to forge...

Re: Renovating an old farm house

I nearly bought those textured tiles - I'd have done the entire room with them but got "the look".

Re: Cluster flies

These threads on cluster flies have always baffled me. Why not walk around the room with a mastic/silicone gun and look for any holes they can get throw and block them !!!! They can't walk/fly through walls :D What am I missing here ? This isn't as facetious as it sounds - but if you ain't had clus...

Re: Cluster flies

Try clusterflies.co.uk. But its all chemicals - they do work however. Cluster flies over winter / hibernate indoors - wake up go outside breed - return when it gets cold. If its "bad" on fumigation now - another Sept/Oct when they reappear. They also have sprays and powders for barriers etc. Possibl...

Re: Your first car can you remember what it was and what it cost

First car was a gift from my father. A Vauxhall Viva that had failed its MOT - he had by this time painted it in luminous yellow safety paint borrowed from the pit. So £40 for a dodgy MOT and it was mine. Brakes didn't work - had a block of wood in the boot in case you needed a handbrake and given y...

Re: Run Flat Tyres

It depends on the tyre. Most "spares" that are run flat - or space saving - are there so you can limp along at 60 and get home or to a garage. They have a sticker or whatever on them - you know they're not designed for speed when you push it ....... The ones on BMW et al and/or that are bought to re...
