Re: Covering artex

Artex or French plaster applied ala artex? I had the oddest walls - very 1980's in every respect - "artex" and rag roller paint together. Turned out the artex was just artistically applied plaster - or at least there were no fibres in it. Either way wet it down - if it is artex it keeps the fibres u...

Re: TdF - No Cav

As per the title....given recent form not very surprising. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/jul/02/tour-de-france-mark-cavendish-left-out-of-dimension-data-squad He will be remembered as one of the greats - but illness/age have removed that aura - its years since he was world beating. The gen...

Re: Long haul flights

I know my flights to Australia are in the 3.5k region Business Class - day/month can change that by quite a lot- but assume 3 to 4 times the price for Business over Economy Singapore - standard business class...

Re: Powerfix emulsion paint.

Its superb quality and everyone who has used it will say so with the exception of the oracle that knows everything about renovation who was unfortunate to have bought some of a dodgy batch that had micro_billes in the mixture, I had some of that batch also and they all came off with one pass of a p...

Re: Strange internet problems.

DNS not found normally means you've lost internet - probably obvious and teaching you to suck eggs - but on a laptop/PC the wi fi signal should show you wi fi bars with an exclamation mark if there's no connection to the outside world. The only other issue can be VPN/DNS confusing things - my DNS h...

Re: Mesh wifi

For those who think cost is important - Tenda - 3 nodes off Amazon - 80 quid. Arrived 9.30 - whole house and garden had internet at 9.33. Apparently there's an app allows me to do something dull and IT but my phones to old - probably a good thing as it saved me worrying and faffing about - so plug l...

Re: Prime D'activité.

Just because they say you need a CDS doesn't mean its accurate. More my girlfriend than me - but every almost every official thing wants a CDS its on their tick list/standard letter for L'Estrangers - a passport and a I'm not required to have a CDS as an EU national has sufficed for everything to da...

Re: British television

Oh and some SmartDNS are struggling with mobile connections - 3G/4G - if its that then you're stuffed. the Networks are stamping a DNS upstream - you end up back using VPN. Most SmartDNS services come with a VPN - when my DNS wouldn't work on a 4G signal I just used the VPN instead. Either Firefox o...
