Re: Is the situation going out of control.

I'm never sure where the figures are meant to cover when the British press and others refer to "France" when they are quoting statistics. Are they for the part of mainland France in Europe (l'Hexagone), France Metropolitaine (mainland France and Corsica, other islands in the Atlantic Ocean, the Engl...

Re: Help ID a tree pls

It is well worth having the Pl@ntNet app https://plantnet.org/en/ on your mobile phone if you often wonder what a plant is when out. And there is the online version if you are at home https://identify.plantnet.org You can just take a photo or submit and image and get likely hits.

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

snip As a couple, we haven't paid tax in previous years because we didn't reach the threshhold, so we didn't expect to pay this year, as our incomes were along the same lines as in previous years. snip We are both employed, separately, by employers, ie we are salariés, and the prélèvement à la sour...

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

There have been several mentions of "free year" by those who are employed in France. I don't know where they got that misconception from? It was explained in newspapers and elsewhere what was going to happen. There were even explanations and details of the consequences to ensure people didn't delay ...

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

Do you pay tax at source in France? Is the "you" in that sentence aimed at elsie, or is the question "does one pay tax at source"? I don't pay tax at source but I'd like to, instead of paying 4 payments from September which will be hard on my bank account; a little chipping away each month is bette...

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

In 2017 you paid tax on your 2016 income. In 2018 you paid tax on your 2017 income. in 2019 you declared your income for 2018. An assessment was made, but no tax was charged if your earnings were in line with the income declared in the previous three years - 2015, 2016 and 2017. To cancel out that 2...

Re: 2019 Tax Returns - results are appearing on-line

To burst the myth, 2018 wasn't a tax holiday for French tax payers at source, the tax rate was inflated in 2019 and then adjusted in 2020. That was the reality, the impots know how to do their sums. I'm not sure what tax rate you think was inflated in 2019? I think the only changes were the tax ban...
